I don't know if the two are related but I recently installed a JRSC (1994 GSR @ 6psi). I worked fine for over a week but since yesterday, the idle is really high. When I first start it sits at ~2000 and then goes down to ~1500 at operating temp. I don't think there are any vac. leaks. Could the IAT sensor be fouling (JR relay, Pressure switch?) or the IAC?? There is almost no slack in the throttle cable but the butterfly is closing completely. The one thing I haven't hooked up yet is the fuel pressure gauge.... could FP be too high.... but then it ran fine for 2 weeks and I haven't adjusted anything?
Anyone experienced this before????
Thanks in advance

Double check that the throttle does have enough slack, I've had a similar experience due to this before.
If you have it running where it is acting like you stated with a high idle after warming up open the hood and physically try to push the butterfly closed further using the cam that the cable goes around at the throttle body. If you push on it ant the idle drops the cable needs to be loosened a thread or two at the TB cable adjuster.

Turismo, thanks for the prompt response.
I've actually tried that and it did nothing.... however I did a search on this forum for "fast idle" and there is a lot of good info there.... it seems this happens quite frequently and usually can be traced back to the IAC under the TB.... I'll check it out this weekend.
Thanks

Mine did the same thing once.
Check your manifold. Mine had a hair line crack and that cause a minute vaccuum leak and a high and erratic idle.

My money is on a failing Fast Idle Thermo valve... it is very common in '94-95 GSR's. Simply allow the car to warm up, and then place your finger over the lower hole on the left side of the T/B inlet (right in front of the throttle blade/butterfly). If your idle comes down to normal, then the Thermo valve needs to be replaced.
Good luck

Well I spent today diagnosing the problem and everything seems to work fine........ but still the Idle is high and fluctuates slightly. I couldn't find any leaks, the FIT valve seems to work fine, and there's no air in the cooling system.......... now I'm confused. No codes either.
Anyone have any other ideas??? Could the IAC be malfunctioning? I disconected it and the idle wnt down to about 1K.
Thanks

If you really have a GS-R then you only have an IAC. FIT (fast idle thermo) valves only exist on automatics. On Integras, they are not the most consistent components. They can malfunction and not throw a CEL - I've seen it happen several times. Sometimes mine acts a little screwy. When they wear out, they often get stuck in the open position, which would explain your high and erratic idle. As you said, unplugging it caused your idle to return to 1k. So what does that tell you? It's probably the IAC valve.
